A quick reference guide to where Loop components can be created

In Scott’s latest YouTube Tutorial, How to improve Team Meeting with Loop, he explores using Loop in Teams and Whiteboard to reduce meeting effort. In this blog we share some of the other apps that can also work with Loop.

So, firstly what is Loop?

Well, this is what Co-Pilot told us...

“Microsoft Loop is a collaborative workspace that allows you to create and share Loop components, which are dynamic and interactive snippets of information that can be used across Microsoft 365 apps. It includes features like task management, automation through Power Automate, and integration with other Microsoft 365 apps like Teams and OneNote. Loop components can be used within Teams channels to enhance collaboration and productivity. For example, you can use Loop components within OneNote to improve its capabilities or automate processes in Microsoft Loop with new Power Automate integrations”

If you’re intrigued by Loop, we’ve got a whole playlist of Microsoft Loop content on the Your 365 Coach YouTube channel.

Which apps work with Loop?

You can create Loop components (with varying availability) in the following apps:

  • Outlook
  • Teams
  • OneNote Online
  • Word Online
  • Whiteboard

Teams and OneNote have the best range, based on our experience we’ve a create a quick reference guide of what you can create and where:

Remember the world of 365 is always changing so keep checking your favourite apps to see if more appear.

Can you copy a component that you can’t create in an app from somewhere else?

An example would be copying a Kanban Board from a Loop Workspace and pasting into Whiteboard. We found mixed results, sometimes they worked, other times there was an error. So, we’d suggest that you stick to using the components offered to you in the app that you’re in.

In unsupported apps you can add a link to the web version of the Loop component as an alternative. Likewise if you add components to documents the online version of Word or notebooks in OneNote they are replaced with links when opened on the desktop app.
